My Farrier Runs Quarter horses Down in Louisiana and I'd really like to help him Exercise them. He came over to shoe our horses one day and I asked him if he needed any help with the horses Like Exercising and Grooming. He said that he didn't think i was strong enough for the job. I am 5'6 and weigh about 115. I run barrels and I KNOW that i can handle my high strung horses and I am pretty sure i could handle his. What do i do? I have a lot of riding strength and ability being how i was practically born on the back of a horse.

  1. You got to realize some men tend to see women as being weaker than themselves.  I'm not saying you can't handle a high strung race horse but it is a totally different riding discipline.  You are talking a big difference in the bit in the horses' mouth even a big difference in saddles.  Perhaps you can start out by asking him if you could work as a groom to begin with and go from there.  Once you earn his trust maybe then approach him about teaching you to gallop and letting you exercise them.
