We have made great strides towards eliminating racial tensions in today's society, however, we are still not free from prejudice and discrimination. What more needs to be done to ease these tensions or, perhaps, totally eliminate them?

  1. One thing that would ease tensions faster than anything that I can think of would be....  For the ones 'oppressed' to renounce welfare.  They could stand up and say ENOUGH of these handouts.  We are going to pull our own weight, and not accept any more stolen monies from the government.  We are ashamed of what the government is doing to the working people by taking their hard earned money and giving it to those of us on welfare.

Also, we will learn the laws of the land and become law-abiding citizens who will not need to be imprisoned at the 60% rate that we have been.

We will marry the mother of our children and take care of our families ourselves.

We will quit 'demanding' respect and we will resolve to 'earn' your respect.

We understand that a criminal does not deserve respect simply because he has learned how to walk upright on his hind legs.

Following the rules of the Bible are good starting points.

  2. Smile on your brfother now...

If there is anything that increases tension it is fear of the other.

What does a dog do to ease tensions, not ease away bristling, but effusively wagging the tail, even going into a submissive posture of a pup. Our body language tells others that we are approchable.

What can someone else do, like government? get police and prison guards to treat everyone with respect.  Get back to a bit of political correctness that shows that respect.

  3. Luke 9.55-56

    Luke 9.60

    Luke 11.46-52

    Luke 6.39-40,41-45,46-49

    Luke 4.4

    Luke 24.44-45

    Luke 2.32

    What do you think?

  4. In America, we do not talk about race. Political correctness numbs the conversation.  If you remember the sit coms of the 70s early 80s, "All in The Family" "Sanford and Son" even "The Jeffersons"  listen to the language.  Due to politically correct speech if you are not a minority then expressing your informed or un-informed opinion is a risk with un-intended consequences.  Their is a pattern of a lightening over-reaction with the words/rhetoric and a sluggish response with the deeds.  The rub is this: one group doesn't want to deal with it and feels it is a thing of the past, the other group is slapped in the face with race daily.  The response? Get over it.

Tensions will not ease because of this reccesionary period in America.  How can anyone differentiate when one group is being treated differently, when everybody is losing their home, their jobs etc.  The environment is combustible and ripe for a huge mis-understanding. Regretably the best chance we have to eliminate racial tensions are at the heels of a national disaster, and I am not talking about a series of Hurricane's hitting a region of the United States. Only then will the bigot and the libertarian will stand on the same side as the Republican and Democrat joining hands with the Independent voter and see people inside out. We all bleed, we all hurt and we all have needs with pent up frustration.  The greatest chance we have on a less coarse social fabric with less of an emphasis on rugged individualism is when we as a country are bought to our knees with heads bowed.

  5. illegals need to go home....Blacks need to stop pushing their culture on our kids, therefore eliminating that tension...if each group stays to themselves and stops pushing their agenda on the other, things will smooth right out..its the clash points that cause trouble

  6. Start young on teaching people about the equality of mankind and the evils done in hate.

Once a person approaches adulthood with a hatred against others because of color of skin, national ancestry, religion, or whatever, the Political Correctness movement basically teaches them to stay silent about their hatred, so they can act on it in secret, and maybe even get away with hate crimes.

Leaders of religions need to contact each other and work towards a solution to religious schools teaching race and religion hatred.

There are many problems that cannot be solved until after we solve the problem of illegal immigration.  Much of this is due to economic conditions in other nations being extremely bad, so people want to come here.  If in foreign affairs we can help other nations with their economies, then perhaps less pressure for folks to come here illegally.

  7. Mix, Mix, Mix.  Live in communities with a mix of races, of incomes, and of ages.  Oh, wait, that doesn't happen.  Let's see, how about everyone marrying someone of a different race.  In only a generation or two we'll all be blended.  Oh, wait, that's Brazil, and they have race problems too.  Hmmm..... Ok, how about treating other people the way you want to be treated?  Oh, wait, that would take manners and patience.  I give up.

  8. drop Rap from MTV..drop MTV from Tv,drop all attempts at forcing the mixing of cultures that breeds resentment...the homogeneous culture thing wont work and will just result in hard feelings and more violence and hatred

  9. most of it arises from a conflict of cultures and those cultures being forced onto the other ways of life...if those of each culture would just keep it at home, stop trying to invade the daily lives of others..quit trying to convert others to their way of life, tensions would ease overnight....look at the hispanic/black wars going on in So California right now...open warfare over who is supposed to exist where...if those of each race would keep it at their own neighborhood,no reason for open war would there be....weird..dying over 1 or 2 blocks of trash strewn steet
