  1. i started as a volunteer in my college.. i was 17 then.. i got exposed little by little to different volunteer opportunities (prison visit, tutoring poor children, being with disabled/special people, caring for the dying.. going to mountain communities, distributing brochures, etc... etc...) it definitely changed my direction in life.. i used to have simple goals: own mansion, cars, lots of wealth.. as i got exposed more and more to my less fortunate friends, my dream now is to ease their life by being there.. by sharing not just what i have but also who i am.. until now, 7 years after, my passion is still in volunteering.. aside from my work, i make sure i spend some quality time with an organization of my choice.. someone would volunteer without expecting anything in return, but there has never been someone who had volunteered without gaining a million..

  2. i could not afford to give money so i gave time - i have now volunteered over 40 years for numerous charities

  3. My first volunteer was as a candy stripper at a children's hosp.

I have been going strong ever since.  Volunteered at my children's schools, help at Church run bingo, Sunday School, PTA, Library and a few service organizations.  I am over 50 and still volunteer.  The greatest benefit to me has been learning to lead and manage people. Definitely an asset in the business world.  Now as a retiree it is a way to meet new people who share the same interests.
