Question:

What motivations do women have to critique feminism?

Men are doing it because they "hate women" according to the local feminists here, so I was just wondering why some women do it and say some of the same things we do.

There are many women that critique feminism and some of them are gaining popularity and exposure. Among them are Christina Hoff Summers, Carrie Lukas, and Wendy McElroy.

When you read the works of the afore mentioned women you get a sense that they are truly interested in equality and the organizations they represent are indeed egalitarian movements.

Some women here deny that feminism has the capability to be anything other than a wondrous "happy place."

So men critique feminism because they hate women apparently. Do women also hate women when they critique feminism?

  1. I think there are two kinds of feminists out there, those who want to help women and those who want to hurt men.  Sadly those who want to hurt men are much louder than those who want to help women.  As a result, women can easily criticize feminism.  You don't have to be a man to stand up for them.

This all works in exchange as well.

  2. Most women who criticize feminism think it has lost sight of its original intentions. It's a fair criticism, but in the case of people like Sommers and McElroy, it's all they ever criticize. I've looked on ifeminists.com and they almost exclusively address the problems faced solely by men.

  3. Most of us men do not hate women. But do hate BS, double standards and hypocricy.

The lunatic fringe of feminist that speak lowder than their sane members. Unfortunately the majority of the sane members suport those lunatics by keeping quiet. Thus silently agreeing to them.

Thus is natural for a woman capable of critical thinking to opose this lunatic finge.

The lunatic fringe also atacks women that just want to be homemakers. Thus homemakers do not agree with them.

The lunatic fringe oposes the idea that there are woman that are natural submisive and thus wont feel happy on another situation. This the naturaly submisive women do not agree with them.

The lunatic fringe oposes the idea of women liking the man to be the captain of the family. Thus opose women that like that the man takes charge of the family.

There are many other reasons. Unfortunately the 1% of lunatics and the 90% of feminist that suports then by means of silence makes people don't like feminist as a whole.

The 9% that calls the balls balls and the strike strike are not enough as their voices are too low in comparison with the lunatics.

  4. Good point. That's exactly what the feminists say that these women are sycophantic and traitors to the cause, etc.

    EDIT: Voice of reality.

Another reason they criticise it is that the majority of women don't want to be unmarried with children in creches/baby sitters while they are forced to work in jobs they don't like

    EDIT: Voice of reality

It is not preventing but it certainly is encouraging single motherhood and divorces. The sexual revolution is/was created by feminists. The results are vast armies of single mothers

  5. Certainly hating women can't be the reason for critiquing feminism.  Seeing that most women hate women more than just about any man could ever hate them.  I think we'd see WAY more women critiquing it if that were the cause.

The only reason women would have to critique it is morality.  That is all.  Feminism, at this point, is simply gaining more and more special treatment/privileges for women.  So, it only helps them.  Why would anyone even think about going against their own special privileges?  Well, morality remains as the only reason left.  Let's see just how much they have...

Numerous fems claim that, "Well I'm a feminist and I just want equality not special rights and privileges."  Expecting that to make everything okay.  The reality is:  If you are part of a group/movement/organization/whatever that is doing harm to society....  You are part of the cause, not the solution.  Regardless of if you agree with what the group is doing, you are still partaking in it by not criticizing it.

Georgebonbon:  You have a point.  But, feminism is not actually preventing anyone from getting married.  Women have all the power once you get married, so odds are the guy isn't going to initiate a divorce.  Especially if she's a good wife.  But, also, having the makings of a good wife coincides with having morals.
