I just recently received my motorcycle permit and will be obtaining my license soon. I am looking for a bike that will cost $4,000 and under (used) and it also has to be a street bike. Any suggestions as to what kind of bike i should get?

  1. If you arent into a sportbike and want something small to start on go with a Honda rebel. You will want a bigger one pretty soon but should have no trouble seeling the rebel.

  2. Take a motorcycle safety course. They have bikes for you to learn on and will be able to expose you to several styles of bikes.

After you finish the course you will be in a much better position to answer your own question... if you still can't decide then I recommend you check out some used SV650's, Ninja 650R's, and R6's. If you look hard enough you might even find a used Ducati 695.

  3. I would recommend a Kawasaki Ninja 250 they are great bikes for beginners and are very cheap yet are still built nice. You can usually find low mileage used ones for around $2000 and up. I wouldnt really recommend getting a new one as you will eventually want a bigger bike plus you'll be able to sell a used one and get most of your money back out of it for when you decide to get a new bike.
