What motore will work with a 12' jon boat

Question

I have a 1962 12' starcraft jon boat and need a motor. I know that a 3.5hp will work but Im not sure about a 5hp or a 7.5 hp??? Any advice Thanks

I use a 5 hp brig and stanton motor on my jon boat. Works great. Ya its a little heavy but I gets me and a partner to where the fish are. Just have to avoid big open water.

I also use a trolling motor for smaller lakes. But don't expect on getting to much mileage on a trolling motor. The only last 1.5 hours running your trolling motor full speed.

Go for a four stroke of between 6 and 10hp this will be nice and frugal.  If your boat is like this you will see they recommend 5hp. http://www.directboats.com/waco12jonboat...
