i'm thinking getting him some dvds for his 17th b-day.

He plays fencing and tennis.. he's not like the tough and wild guy in our school... Please help!!

It depends what he likes.  Is he into horror, comedy, war, sci-fi?

Some of the Matrix films are good and stuff like Transformers or Star Wars, but he might have all that newer stuff if he's into films.  Perhaps you could get him something from a while back like Total Recall, the original Terminator or Highlander.  If he's into horror get him Hellraiser or 28 Days Later.  If he's into comedy you could go for Monty Python or some kind of cult comedy like that.  If he's a bit of a film buff, get him an old Woody Allen film or a Clockwork Orange.  Alternatively you could go way back and get him something from the 50s or 60s like Psycho or one of the old Twilight Zone series.  

It's difficult to say, and it really does depend on what kind of stuff he likes.
