  1. Primarily, one uses the leg and arm muscles. If you're really working your butt off, though, you may feel some of your other muscles working. I remember one particular hard track practice in which I felt it in my abs, back; you name it, it hurt, lol.

  3. your quads, hamstrings, calfs, soleus, upper arm muscles, possibly your but muscles, and if you have good form and keep your elbows back then your upper back/shoulder muscles as well. Just to name a few.

  4. Soleus, Gastrocnemius, rectus femoris, vastus medials, vastus lateralis, bicep femoris, gluteus maximus, psoas major, illiacus, tibialis posterior, tibialis anterior, rectus abdominis, and peroneal muscles to name a few.
