  1. Good question. Correct or most effective stroking involves torso muscles. Kayakers usually develop narrow waists while canoers develop thick waists.


  2. If you're pulling water, and not just putting along, you should be fully engaged from your toes up to your finger tips.  The bulk of the work in paddling is done via a torso twist; not from cycling your arms.

  3. I've never done touring, but whitewater kayaking works the c**p out of your abs, back , arms and shoulders!!

  4. it works your biceps, triceps, forearms, and sometimes abs, if u do alot of tourqing and turnin.it also works the muscles below you armpits( i dont no wat they r called tho) i hope i helped.
