  1. legs, chest, shoulders and triceps.

  2. The power of a punch is not  solely depended on our muscles. the power comes from your legs, weight down shifting weight forward  to your front leg taking care your knee doesn't go pass your toes, use you hips first before shifting weight, and for a more powerful punch don't lock your arm (extend it completely).

If you punch 200 times a day your arm muscles will increase in size and tone automatically. the function of the muscles when trowing a punch is to act as a shock absorber. With weak muscles you will break your fist easier.

Bigger muscles is not always better but putting your weight behind your punch is.

  3. Triceps and the calfs.

I know it looks stupid, but if you punch properly, your power is coming from the ground, so pushing with your foot and extanding your arm are important.

  4. Punches always come from the shoulder and hip.  Always.  A heavy bag, core work, shoulder work, lats work, curls, french curls and plenty of heavy bag punching will give you an added advantage, it all depends on how much work you're willing to put into these things though.

I've heard that a punch starts in your heel, and that maybe be true, but throw a hook some times and see if that holds true.  You can feel the punch come from you own hip and shoulder.  The same holds true about the cross punch.  The heel maybe where a good jab comes from knowing what I know about stepping into your jab, but throw a over hand punch like you're throwing a overhand fastball and you'll know that your middle back "Part of your Core Area" is doing most of the work as well as your shoulder.

Note: I always make this crystal clear to my team's members.  Always make it a point to land your middle and index knuckles every time your hand lands...everytime!!  Never use the smaller ring finger and pinky knuckles because those bones are too small and never belong in a landing punch.  Also make sure your hand is naturally twisting as you throw your punches.  Your hand should land every time so that your thumb is in the 9 o'clock position and not at the 12 or 11 o'clock position. This little technique cuts the opponent's skin quite easily and has a way bigger effect than just landing some "boxer" style street type punch.

  5. Develop proper technique and speed. All the strength in the world won't help a poorly delivered punch.

After that wall push offs about 20 reps for 5 min. interval  every day you work out should help with speed and strength. This works on the fast twitch muscles cells in the arms.

  6. your butt.

  7. its all physics really... F=MA (force= mass x acceleration) size does kinda matter but only partially... if u want a hard punch u will need it to be quick... and u need ur fist to be heavier... so basically what u need to do is work out ur back muscles, the muscles on your hand and your triceps...

what i did to work out my muscles on my hands was filled a mug with a bunch of stuff to make it heavy, and gribed it with my fingers... then i did rotations, with the mug. push ups (for the deltoids), pull ups, bench presses... shadow boxing is also a gd idea, its up to u if u wish to use weights wen shadow boxing...

Sifu Frank is also correct with the technique stuff... its called kinetic linking... your punch starts from the ground through the legs through the large muscles of ur butt and back, into ur arms and finally into ur fists... u gotta have good technique... like sifu frank sed u can have large muscles but poor technique will put u at a disadvantage.

  8. All of them.
