What must I do to get fit for water polo?

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good training workout to get and keep me fit for water polo?

  1. Water polo is mostly endurance. You have quarters more than 15 minutes long and you're treading the whole time. You should just swim laps for that = good cardio/lung tolerance. To be good at water polo, you need forearms, abs, back/shoulders, and legs - Forearms for treading/swimming, abs for treading/changing direction, back/shoulders for swimming, and legs for treading/swimming. All of that equates, respectively, to pullups/chinups, crunches, freestyle laps, and breaststroke/flutter kicking in the pool.

    All of that is easy stuff though - just to survive in waterpolo. Lift weights according to your own body to be a competitor. Physically tough sport.
