What must I do to start driving?

I am about to turn 18 and am going to learn how to drive (i know its really late in the game :p) and I know that its different for 18 year olds versus 16 year olds. I live in Orange County, so does anyone know what the requirements are.. and when I will be able to drive by myself with a liscence? thanks for all help :D

I am just turning 19 and just got my licinse! don't feel funny! its alright! i had my permit since i was 16 so this may be different. they may require you to have a permit at first for like 6 months then you should go right to a lisince but my guess is that a written test is still required as it is here no matter what ur age!
