I'm off to New Zealand in October and November for 5 weeks and just wanted to know what people would recommend to go see, do and experience? (And any ideas on cheap things would be great too!)

  1. On the North Island you have got Rotarrua where the live volcano boiling mud is, but hold your nose as it smells abit from the gas's being released. Queenstown and Milford sound are two very beautiful spots to visit.

  2. Awesome! Good choice. Great country. (I'm from Wellington, NZ) Hmm well it really depends what type of person you are.. and whereabouts in New Zealand you're going.

In Wellington, definitly go for a walk down the waterfront. And around the main shopping area (Lamton Quay, Cuba & Manners mall)

And you should check out Te Papa, the National Muesuem. Sounds boring but it's really cool. And entry is free! The only cost in Te Papa is the current exhibit and the rides. Rides!

I could go on FOREVER (been around the country) but I think you should just check out the website because there are SO many things to see, do, and experience!

  3. I just got back from an amazing 8 months in New Zealand. There are so many beautiful places to visit here are just a few:

    North Island:

    *Mount Maunganui (Beautiful Beach)

*Hot Water Beach (Dig A Hole And Relax In A Natural Hot Water Bath)

    *Rotorua

*Taupo (Bungy Jump or Just Take In The Largest Lake In NZ)

*Wellington (Capital City, So Many Things To Do Here)

    *Auckland

*Bay Of Islands (Name Says It All, Scuba/Snokel Here)

    South Island

*Franz Joseph Glacier (Do Atleast A 3/4 Day Hike)

    *Queenstown (Party Hard, Amazing Nightlife)

*Wanaka (Check Out Lake Wanaka, AMAZING)

*Mt Cook (Highest Pt In NZ)

*Lake Tekapo (Teal Colored Natural Lake)

*Christchurch (Check Out The Market In The Square)

    *Kaikoura (Best Place For Seafood)

*Milford Sound (Take A Cruise Of The Fiord)

*Doubtful Sound (Less Touristy Than Milford)

*Abel Tasman Nat'l Park (Great Place To Sail/Hike)

*Marlbourgh Region (Wine Tastings All Over The Place)

Do any hike/walk you can find. It is an amazing country. Flexipass is a great way to see the country. But they do go through some small towns, and some of the food stops are a rip off. So pack your own food as much as possible. There are so many options for fresh fruits and veggies. Enjoy yourself. There are many great hostels to stay in throughout the country. If you get a chance check out a rugby game!

    HAVE A GREAT TRIP!
