  1. Computer Programming, Learn programming languages, web based and object oriented. I'm an IT student.


  2. i think databases are horrible but i think they are quite important for it professionals, because alot of things created need to have databases linked to them.

  3. IT professional itself brings in a broad picture with it. Generally a IT professional needs programming, database and aptitude skills in his daily life as per his assigned work. And if he is in some sort of support domain he need to have good communication skills. Networking, servers are of necessary knowledge to IT people working on network maintenance stuff. Website design is necessary for IT people working as web developers or designers. IT has got lot of sub classification

  4. it depends on which part of the field u are in. since there are so many fields its hard to say exactly and it doesnt help the fact that software is developing so fast!

  5. Speaking to some of the Net Admins at some Big companies that operate round here - I would say being able to identify a computer is sufficient!

    Get some networking skills and Linux on top of the basic Microsoft stuff. Programming is good too, as when someone is telling you they can't do something you know if they are lying!

    It may seem cynical but in reality for many jobs as an "IT Professional" you only need to know more than the person employing you!
