The American public is quite evenly divided to the extent that old as well as emerging national problems cannot be resolved. We presently have a stalemate or perhaps even a stalemate. The American public when polled react as if we are far gone. Where do we go from here in respect to increasing debt, declining dollar value, loss of international respect, diplomatic and military failures in Iraq and Afghanistan?

  1. The political deadlock is the result of campaign laws in this country.  The dems and the repubs both favor the current campaign laws (with regard to financing) because it keeps them in power.  Until we have done all we can to make sure that money is not the driving force for politics in this nation, we will always have a split government that does not represent the people.

  2. Hope for a McCain/Lieberman ticket...or similar situated individuals to 'team up' as President/Vice-President.

Both have history of being principled, but not partisan...even willing to stand up against their own party.

  3. vote 3rd party

  4. I think it will take to the next election to break the deadlock.  The senate is split too evenly with dems barely in the majority, facing a rep president with veto power and who isn't big on compromise.  Meanwhile elections are coming up, so no one wants to budge for fear of giving the other side a political victory.

I think things will improve after the election if there is a clearer majority with new leaders willing to compromise.
