I have another lesson on tuesday which would add up to 7 hours of total driving. For my driving test what must i know how to do? What besides K turn and Parallel parking?

  1. You need to use your blinker is you are coming off the curb and into traffic(after you successfully parallel park). There is no need to use your blinker when pulling out of a driveway.

When I took my driving test I remember needing to watch speed(they purposly took me through a school zone to make sure I slowed down). You need to use your blinker at turns, watch for one way streets(they may test you and tell you to turn onto one to be sure you are paying attention).

You basically do everything you normally do while driving. Before you pull out fasten your seat belt, check mirrors, look over your shoulder to be sure no one is coming. Put on your blinker and pull away from the curb.

Follow the speed limit, signs, etc. Yield to pedestrians in cross walks(if applicable). Take your time and make sure everything is clear to turn.

When you parallel park be sure to use your blinker to signal you are pulling back toward the curb, and then use it again after you are successful and pull out again. Check your side mirror for traffic and look over your shoulder and pull out.

The instructor is basically looking for you to know the basic rules of the road. They expect some nervousness and you are allowed a mistake or two(from what I remember). Just take your time and treat it as just another drive.

  2. for mine all i had to do was stop at stop sign, merge into a lane and drive a round a bit. use blinker when turning on to any street.  should turn it on about 100 feet from turn.

  3. Be sure to always come to a complete stop at a stop sign.  Testers fail those who stop for a nano-second or who slow down without stopping at all.

Know where all the instruments are in the car: emergency  flashers, emergency break, turn signals, etc.  If you are borrowing someone else's car for the test, be sure to take extra time to study where everything is in the car.

Do you have a study manual of driving rules/regulations to learn?  Right of way rules?  Do you need to know road signs?

Best wishes to you.  I failed my first time, a lot of people do so don't get discouraged if it should happen to you.

  4. Safe driving tips to help pass your road test:

STEERING Steer smoothly whether you are driving straight ahead, turning or backing up.

ACCELERATION Accelerate smoothly and moderately. Don't race the engine or cause it to stall.

BRAKING Bring the vehicle to a stop gently. Start braking well before your stopping position to avoid "jerky" stops. Make sure you stop your vehicle in the proper position of the lane.

CLUTCH/GEAR Always be sure your vehicle is in the correct gear. With either an automatic or a manual transmission, shift into the proper gear at the right time without "grinding" the gears.

SPEED Obey the posted speed limit, of course, but also adjust your speed properly due to weather, road, visibility and traffic conditions.

FOLLOWING DISTANCE Keep an adequate space "cushion" between your vehicle and those you are following. Use the "two second rule" described in the Driver's Manual. Be sure to increase your following distance in poor weather or visibility.

TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Know the meanings of signs, signals and pavement markings, and obey them consistently.

STOPPING POSITION If a stop is required, stop your vehicle before it reaches an intersecting street. If stop lines or crosswalks are present, stop before crossing them. If your view is blocked after stopping behind the crosswalk, move up until you can clearly see your way, then stop again if necessary.

LANE SELECTION AND POSITION Keep your vehicle in the proper traffic lane, especially when preparing to make turns. Don't allow room for another vehicle to pass you on the side that you are turning toward.

COMMUNICATION Let other drivers and pedestrians know which way you want to go. Use your directional signals or horn consistently and at the proper times.

OBSERVATION Look for and identify potential problems or hazards in the traffic around you - not just straight ahead, but behind you and on either side. Check your mirrors frequently, but be sure to look over your shoulder behind you when changing lanes or backing up.

ANTICIPATE & REACT TO OTHERS Anticipate possible driving errors by others and be ready to react safely to make up for their mistakes.

    Yes to your last question.

  5. Dont forget the hand signals, they test for those in California, they probably do where you are too.
