My family (5 adults, 2 children) have four days in Paris. One day will be spent at Eurodisneyland, so we have 3 days to see Paris.

Apart from the obvious Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame...what should we do? See? Good places to eat? Any tips, big or small would be great!

  1. My wife and i just returned from Paris,we did not have a lot of time to go into the larger museums,so we bought a 2 day pass on the double decker bus tours, they go all over and you can get on and off at every stop, and if you miss the bus you were on,you just catch a later one thay run like every fifteen minutes, and they go all over.It was excellant, and we saw alot

  2. I would go to the street of Champs Elysee. Its a long street with lots of shops and outside restaraunts.

I would buy a 2 day museum pass. It includes alot of attractions including the Eiffle not just museums. Plus you bypass the long line ups.  Don't forget to grab a brochure from the hotel, any would do, most of them have a map of the city with the major attractions and nearest metro stations highlighted. I would not buy a metro pass, I think tickets are cheaper (11 euros for 10 tickets), plus lot of the attractions are near each other so you can walk.

Places I loved and suggest doing are:

    Seine Cruise at night (Amazing)

    Sacre Coure

    Louvre

    Musee D'Orsay

    Arc du Triumphe

Jurden du Tuilleries (a huge park that your kids will love and so will you which leads to the Louvre)

I suggest going to www.frommers.com. It help me alot. It lists all the attractions with a brief summary, cost, nearest metro and hours of operations.

    Have fun!

  3. With only three days to actually see Paris you can stick to the obvious and fill every second of your available time. Of course, the problem will be keeping the children's interest.

I took my daughter to Paris for the first time when she was 10 and, actually, she found everything fascinating from the guys cleaning the streets in the morning with brooms to the fact that dogs are permitted in cafes to the vast number of fillings available at crepe stands. (The first French phrase she demanded I teach her was "Un crepe avec confiture fraise s'il vous plait..."a crepe with strawberry jam")

A three year old is a bit more of a challenge.

The first thing that comes to mind that both children might enjoy is the marionette shows in the Jardin du Luxemborg. These happen, as I recall, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3pm.

Then there is a doll museum ( http://www.museedelapoupeeparis.com/ ) which has 300 dolls on display  in various tableau complete with furniture  and other props.

The Cité des Sciences at Porte de la Villette includes a science and nature interactive museum specifically for children ages 3-11. (http://www.cite-sciences.fr/francais/ala...

The Grevin Wax Museum  (http://www.grevin.com/ ) is also the sort of  thing that might appeal to kids.

There's also a large Ferrris wheel in the Place de la Concorde and several carousels scattered about. One that I can think of is by the Hotel de Ville (city hall) and others by the Eiffel Tower and at the foot of Montmartre.

  5. I liked the Musée de Cluny.  It's a bit less noticed than the others...sort of depends, though on the ages of the children.  It's a former tenth century monestary, museum of things Medieval, and includes the Unicorn and Lady tapestry series (okay, I was in college!  give me a break!) but the rest was truly interesting, too.

Don't miss Sacré Coeur, and Musée d'Orsay is supposed to be REALLY great for impressionist fans!  Lots of gardens....Tuilleries, and Boulogne, and the palace at Versailles.  Again, you don't say the ages of the children, so it's hard to say what would interest them, but if you talk things up for them, and they're over, say, seven, you can get them interested in almost anything.

  6. There is so much to see and do in Paris. Here are some of the things that I really enjoyed when I went last September:

    - Eiffel Tower

    - Notre Dame and the tour of the towers (nice city views)

    - The Conciergerie and Saint Chapelle

    -  Bascillica Sacre Coeur (amazing mosiacs)

    - The Louvre

    -  Musee d'Orsay

    -  Boat Cruise on the Seine

    -  Sipping a glass of wine or two and people watching on a cafe terrace

    - Buying bread and pastries from the bakeries

    - Crepes with nutella or sugar
