What must you provide in order for a organism living in an enviroment to live for a long time?

You need to satisfy the two different types of metabolism. Anabolic and catabolic. Anabolic metabolism is responsible for making tissue or biomass using a food source of some sort. And catabolic is used to create energy for use in the organism. For us, our anabolic metabolism uses the food we eat to repair or replace our cells and we use oxygen as an energy source for our catabolic systems.
