We asked this question yesterday. We got a lot of great responses. However we are wondering which name also seems more upscale to you as a place that you might want to treat a date or a friend to as well. Thanks for any input.

  1. I agree with the name "Steamin Joe's Coffee".

It tells everyone exactly what your product is...hot coffee.  And, if you're successful...your customers will be calling it Joe's in no time anyway!

The term 'Coffee House' in 2008 brings a completely different image to mind than it did in 1965.  Do you want to be upscale?  When I think of upscale coffee, I think of Starbucks and a $2 cup.  Thank you very much, but I'll make my own at home before I go, or stop at a QT for a cup less than a buck...and I like good coffee!  The name should also fit in your market.

  2. I'd go with just "Steamin' Joes", since "Joe" is slang for coffee.  Leave out the "Coffee House" part.  You could also do it as "Steamin' Joe's Coffee" and leave out the "House" part.

I really like that last one.  That gives the image of someone named "Joe" owning a coffee house, and he's always steamin', but in the good way.  He's steamin' coffee all day long.

  3. Try bateaux à vapeur cafe it's French you know.

  4. I don't think so.

The word "Steaming" or "Steamer" makes me think of f***s.

What about getting out of the kitchy names and go a bit more regal like:

Pearl Coffee House or someones name.

  5. Steamers Coffee is more upscale. Steamin Joes is more fun. Decide on who you are targeting as consumers.
