ok so we found a litter of wild kittens in our neighbor's yard. only one of them came up to us. she was very skinny and to small to be on her own. so we took her in just tonight. she is almost all black. except for her paws (all 4), her neck, and her nose are white. she also has a black marking on her nose tht almost looks like a booger coming out of her nose. we thought about naming her booger but we decided not to. we have a few names and i need votes: constance (connie for short)

maggie

elli

molly

cleo

nala (suggestions are appriciated!! thx)

  2. I really like Nala!

  3. My black cat's name is "BOO"

  4. nala is so cute, like the lioness from the lion king! awww

  5. Pick a name that you feel comfortable saying. I like Molly, and if I ever get a female cat I like the name Abby also. Wait until her personality comes out to name her. Nala seems like a very calm kitty, Cleo like a thoughtful kitty, Molly seems to be for a ditzy kitty, Elli sounds like it's short for elephant, Maggie sounds like a nurturer, and Constance sounds loyal (like constant).

  6. oh i really like cleo! and i always liked Roxie.

well, i'm studying literature so i name my pets after favourite writers and characters from books or myths. So maybe if there is someone evryone in your family admires, you kinda just name the kitten after that person. It sorta sounds creepy, but a lot of times when you get to know your kitten better & will be familiar with her personality & character, you'll figure out a perfect nick name.

that's what happened with my Persian cat. He went from having a full name Toni Morrison to just being Fat Toni. Or my bunny Alice Munro is just known as Troubles.

So get to know your kitty! and then the perfect name will just come naturally...

  7. nala is real cute!

you name her socks (cus her paws are white so it looks like she's got socks)

  8. I like Cleo and Sadie, or maybe Sophie

  9. Minnie

    Sadie

    Nelly

My sister always wanted to name a girl cat Chanel after the brand but that wouldn't be my choice. Those are all of the names I would choose for a girl cat or dog.

  10. Nala is cute. My cousins cat is named that and that was the first word her one yr old said instead of mama. LOL  Instead of Constance, what about Prudence (Pru for short). Ooh or if you found her during a full moon you could name her Luna (Luny for short). I have helped a few of my friends name their kittens.  =)

  11. Here are some useful tips in choosing a name for your cat.

    - Choose a name that’s both easy to say and one that you are happy calling out.

    - Pick a name that will grow with the pet.  For example "Kitten" may be less appropriate for a full grown cat.

    - Wait a few days to study your pets behavior.  The personality and appearance of the cat may assist here.

    - Pick a name that the pet can easily recognize.  Animals respond better to one or two syllable names, (especially names ending in a long E sound, like “Gracy“).

    - If choosing a long name keep in mind the shortened version.  A long name will inevitably be shortened, but it may ruin the effect that you were originally looking for.

    - The pet’s breed heritage can provide some useful inspiration.  For example: Siamese, Balinese, Korat, and Burmese are Oriental breeds; Don Sphynx and Peterbald are Russian; Abyssinian is Egyptian; Chartreux is French; Bombay is British; Devon Rex is English.

In my opinion, it's more meaningful when you name your pet yourself.  Check out these websites for tons of pet name ideas...  you can search by gender, color, meaning, and first letter of the name.

  12. Elli is nice. I've got a suggestion too though... Kiwi! I think its cute!

  13. Of your names I really like Molly, and someone else suggested Lola - like that alot! I have 3 cats. George is my favorite name ever - so we have a Georgie, and my husband named Peanut, but she really is a Peanut. Then we have Boris - I thought it was a really cool name for our boy, but we just have always called him Boy or the boy and he answers to it. Georgie and Peanut are probably the only pets I have ever had who answer to the original name given. I would suggest giving it a few days, and sometime you develope a "pet" name or an endearment that sticks, because it is just so them.

  14. Heidi came to mind, as I pictured Grandfather's woods when you told your story. "Lucky," if she's the only one that gets a home.  :-(

EDIT: I swear I didn't know your name was Heidi! As I went to answer another question, I saw it. Funny.

  15. Midnight

    Magic

    Blackie

    Licorice

    Star

Bitty(for her white parts. I know someone who has a kitten named Bits, and everyone calls him Bitty)

    Twilight

If you don't like those names, then I vote Molly as the name. Good luck with your kitten!
