I am having twin daughters! I know, so exciting and nerve-racking. They are my first children. I want to give them a Chinese name to honour their culture but an American name so they will fit in once they start school. Which should be their official, Chinese or American?

Please give me some suggestions and your opinions on the Chinese and American names I like:

AMERICAN:

Isabella and Allison

Hayley and Georgina

Anabelle and Jamilla

Katherine and Mackillop

Chinese

Lien hua and Ming Yue

Fai and Ling

Li Hua and Li mei

Maylin and JingJing

These are names I like

Please give me your opinions!

  1. Ohh, yeah, I like Isabella and Allison.

I like the name Haley, but I'm not fond of the spelling Hayley-- and Georgina is cute, too. Not too fond of Mackillop and Jamilla, to be honest!

As for the Chinese names, I like Lien hua and Ming yue-- but Li Hua and Li mei seem too similar and "twinish" to each other. (: And I understand what you mean with the name JingJing, it'd be difficult once they started school.

Overall, I really like Isabella & Allison, Hayley & Georgina and Lien hua & Ming Yue best. ♥

    Congratulations! (:

  2. Isabella and Allison

    :]

  3. I think I like your american names: Isabella and Allison, off your list.

and Maylin and Ming....i also like the name Mai

  4. You have to tell us their Chinese names in Chinese which you can't do over the computer. I think I know how they sound in Chinese so I pick May Ling and Jing Jing. My Chinese name is Ching Wan Jin Yung Li and I also pick Isabella and Annabelle. I never use my Chinese names anyway but it's good to have them. I have four Chinese names not including my last name Li. My mom is Japanese and my dad is Chinese.

  5. American: Isabella and Allison Chinese: Li Hua and Li mei. All those would sound perfect for twins, I'm a twin to my brother, so what can I say the 2 names have to work out even better because their twins.

  6. Hayley and Georgina

    and

    Maylin but with Li Mei

    Congrats!

  7. Personally, I like Isabella and Anabelle. Later on, you could always shorten it and call them Bella and Belle, which the combo is my favorite pet name for a friend, Bella Belle.

  8. Anabelle Maylin & Gerogiana Lien  (Annie & Gia or Bella & Georgia)

Isabella Mei & Katherine Lien (Isa & Kat, Bella & Katia)

  9. Personally, I like Anabelle and Allison, or Anabelle and Hayley.

However, choosing from the way you have it, I'd say Isabella and Allison.

Chinese names--either Li Hua and Li Mei or Lien Hua and Ming Yue.

    Congratulations on your twins!

It nice that you are honouring your culture. My girl is half Chinese and there was no interest from her father who is Chinese to give her a Chinese name.

Is there a certain way Chinese names are chosen?

  10. Honey & Hazel

    Kassandra & Izzabella

    Sidney & Sara

  11. i think the american name should be their first name considering you want them to fit in.

i like isabella maylin and allison fai

    * congrats *

  12. Congratlations on your baby girls. If I were you I would give them American names but chinese middle names to reflect their heritage.

    I like these name combos:

    Isabella Fai and Hayley Ling

    Georgina Maylin and Anabelle Fai

  13. all ur names are wonderful!

but one name is always better than the other.

u wouldn't want ur babies fighting over who's name is better!

i would go with allison & i would choose for the other baby audrina!

  14. Anabelle and Jamilla

I like these names cuz u can easily have nick names for them

ex ana or bella or milly or milla

  15. I think I would give them american names for their official names.

    isabella and allison

    hayley and georgina

they are my favourite two pairs.

for the chinese names i think i like

    Li Hua and Li Mei

    good luck :) how exciting!!

  16. I like Isabella and Allison.

  17. Anabelle and Jamilla

    Maylin and JingJing

  18. Hayley and Georgina! I love those two names. They could go by Hayley and Georgie, so cute. Their middle names should be Chinese.

    Hayley Maylin

    Georgina Qing

  19. Why not both?

simply combine both forms to make up their full names...I.e. Isabella Lien Hua Last Name....and Allison Ming Yue Last Name....

I go by my English name in school or with friends, but i go by my chinese name with my family and closest friends. My nephews and nieces are the same, as well.

Given time, they'll learn to differentiate when they're older and could  always respond to both =)

as far my opinions on your name choice, i'd go with Isabella and Anabelle. They're both classic and pretty.

  20. Okay. I'm chinese && so are ALL my friends in school.

we do not like having chinese names!!

Only at home, But at school. its american!

SO You should give the chinese name as The middle name & The american name as the First name. :)

A lot of chinese girls have like Jenny or Michelle or Kimberley  as their names.

    So good luck. :)

  21. I love Isabella and Allison. Perhaps a Chinese name for a middle name?

  22. isabella and hayley and maylin and ming yue

probably if they're schooling in america, keep them as american but its up to you!

    CONGRATULATIONS

    it's wonderful news.

I hope they're healthy and happy!

  23. I think you should do american

they might get made fun of or something with chinese names

    (kids are cruel)

    i like bridget and brooke.

i always liked those for some reason

go on google and search baby names.

    they have a bunch!

    hope i helped.

    good luck =)

  24. ok...interesting....

but i like katherine and allison. as for chinese i like the combo maylin and Li mei/ling  i think you should switch it up how about maylin and kaitlyn or something like that or do american first chinese middle then the last name

  25. I like Hayley and Anabelle for American names; Maylin and JingJing for Chinese.

Georgina's very Southern, and it's weird if they end up with the nickname "George."  "MacKillop" sounds like a McDonald's product and I've never heard of it as an American name, ever.

American names you didn't mention: Scarlett, Vanessa, Cassandra, Natalie

I wish I knew some more Chinese names to offer you, but I don't. =)

  26. Isabella and Allison

    Lien hua and Ming Yue

    Good luck.

  27. I like Maylin, it’s pretty and i think that it’s western enough to use once your daughter goes to school

Fai would be the same although as an English name (Fay) is a little old fashion but then it’s the cool thing at the moment to give your kids old fashion names. Also Fai spelled Fae means fairy which is pretty too

Sorry to break up your pairs

  28. Isabella and Allison

  29. How about Isabella Lien & Allison Maylin?

  30. Well to be honest, I don't like many of them, and not to be mean or anything, but kids are cruel enough on Asians already, and giving them a Chinese name wouldn't help. If you picked the American names, I don't like the combinations you chose. The only two I like are Hayley and Allison. Maybe use that as a combination.

  31. well if i were you, i would name them an american name just for school purposes. my favorite names would be isabella and allison.

and for chinese i like, line hua & ming yue.
