What nationality and religion is the name Romano

I have a dear friend whose name is Frank Romano. 10 points to the first person who can tell me what country the family is from and what religion his grandparents had in that country.

  1. I would have to guess Italian.


  2. His heritage is Italian and probably a  Catholic.  Good possibility his nationality is American.

    Edit:  Romano is still an Italian name.  I AM Italian and I have relatives with that name.  Your friends family might be from a different Mediterranean country, but most Romano's are from Italy.
