I am curious about how much or how little Americans know about this subject? Just state if you are Italian or Irish or Greek- wondering about all the different people out there on yahoo as I am fascinated by this. PS-Perhaps education and self awareness will stop bigotry/racism and a fear of immigrants. Aren't we all related to immigrants and if so, why now are people against them? As for me, I am 1st generation born in the USA, Parent from Europe, funny- I am more "white" than all those lame KKK/n**i wanna be people, yet they disgust and repulse me.

  1. My Great Grandfather on my Fathers side was from England,Great Grandmother from Germany. My Great Grandfather on my Mothers side was from Scotland, and his wife,my Great Grandmother was American Indian, Blackfoot tribe. My Dads family settled and lived in Ohio U.S.A. and my Mothers, way back deep into the Hollows of Kentucky U.S.A. .Funny, but when I was researching this on Ancestry.com, I brought up the U.S. Census from early 1900's and noticed that every person on my Mothers family was listed as "B" for Black in column for what race you are. We finally figured out ,that back in the hollows of kentucky they didn't recieve much education. Nothing past sixth grade. So when they had to put down what race they were, they put "B" for "Blackfoot Indian". I thought that was pretty funny! Byee

  2. I'm the first generation in my family to be born in the U.S. too. I'm Filipino though, so I guess it's a little different from what you're talking about. But it's true what you're saying: when the first "modern" Americans came here, they were white British people. The real first Americans are an impoverished minority: Native Americans--a group of people who are barely considered Americans these days. White Americans all came from other nations (even if you have to go so far to find it). The ancestors of these racist white people came here for freedom as immigrants and yet we are not free of racism and bigotry against the same group of people (immigrants). Even in the olden times (early 1900's) there were acts of violence against the growing number of Europeans coming to the U.S.. Those who brought on the attacks were the result of immigration. And those same immigrants that were attacked probably have some racist descendants...against immigrants. It's sad to lose who you really are...how you really got to where you are.

    Good question.

  3. Yes I hate racist whites too, they make us good ones look bad. There are even racist ones who say we have black friends but say the worse things....gross. But am Irish 3rd generation : )
