  1. I am not sure what Cartesian is...

But Kardashian is Armenian. Kardashian, pronounced "kar-dosh-yon"

    means, "son of stone carvers/cutters".

  2. The ending ion or ian /yan is Armenian lile Mac in Scots or O' in Irish . Means  "son of " The composer Katchaturian for example or Mikoyan .

  3. Kardashian is Armenian, at least according to Wikipedia.

"Of Armenian (father) and Irish-German (mother) descent, Kim Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of attorney Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner (née Houghton)."

The word Cartesian means of or relating to the French philosopher and mathematician René Descartes — from his name — Rene Des-Cartes.

  4. It's used in a lot of countries and regions, including England, Germany, Armenia, the Middle East, Africa. In some countries it would be part of an occupational surname (cartesian =  map maker) while in others it might be someone who came from a certain area (like Hessian or Frissian). In some countries it means "son of". So there isn't a universal meaning to that suffix. It means many things in many places.

  5. Do a search on the web, everyone has a cousin that they haven't seen in years who has done some of the research already. in a search engine type in

    (your last name)+genealogy

    you can also try

    (your last name)+family

    Good Luck
