right , a very Italian name,

According to the immigration records at Ancestry.com, they came from southern Italy, emigrating out of Naples.

It deffinately sounds like an Italian surname, however I would bet that the spelling was changed since there is no "j" in the Italian Alphabet. I suspect the original spelling may have been Giannarone, or something similar to that.
