  1. d) both. Without charlemagne..no germany or france ;)

  2. Those countries did not exist back then. The Wikipedia Encyclopedia has a very close and detailed story of him. From what i  read he was actually born around the area i grew up in , in North-Western  Germany.In Which to my day they still Honor and respect him.A thrown was build for him ,which still to this day sits in the Aachen Cathedral which i was told that, the Carpenter my Great Great Great Great Grandfather ,had build for him .A small secret wedding Chapel was also build for him in Uebach-Palenberg ,North Western Germany. That part is not in the encyclopedia  i don`t think ,but that is actually documented in the local historic writings, what re enforced what i had been taught  when i was growing up there.Rumor had it then that his Remains were actually buried there at one time.He is called Kaiser Karl there. That would have been the Frankish area because you got Belgium,Netherlands and Germany right there. That would also explain why he yearned to return the area and also his Moms strange German Accent  where she was originally from.He adored his Mom from what i get and yearned to return to his place of origin.

  3. I would go with c) Neither. Charlemagne was King of the Franks who originated in Germany and eventually migrated to France.

  4. Neither as those countries did not exist, he was Frank and ruled over a land that encompassed most of the two countries. Both modern French and German history books claim him as their Emperor.

He is called Charles 1st, Charles le Grand or Charlemagne in French, Karl der Große in German, and Carolus Magnus (or Karolus Magnus) in latin.

  5. Most historians agree that Charlemagne was German, although it's also possible he was born in Liege, in Belgium, in around 740.

  6. A) He was a German warlord who conquered much of what was known as the "Holy Roman Empire."
