  1. who is responsible is not important any more

Global warming is  part of a natural movement .however

Agriculture has had and stil has the biggest negative effects on the land and industry and civilization in general contaminates the air and waters ,on top of this modern man has done everything to diminish Nature which is our healer and Means to survival

global warming cannot  be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, this requires global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

    POSITIVE ACTIONS

if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

    the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

    education on environmental awareness

education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

    recicling wastes,limit water use

here are a 100 more ways

Lester E Brown is the director and founder of the global institute of Environment in the United states .he has compiled a report based on all the satalite information available from NASA,and all the information that has

come from Universities and American embassies WORLD WIDE ,

his little book--a planet under stress , Plan B has been trans lated into many languages and won the best book award in 2003

  2. The question is what CAN be done?  Maybe nothing except adapt.

That's what all the flora and fauna

did during past ice ages and climate changes.

  3. Nothing, because we do not have the ability to do anything significant. People who say we can just conserve or develop new energy sources and stop the increase in CO2 that way are dreaming. They have not looked at any numbers. They have only looked at political speeches saying to use solar or drive less. But no numbers. How many solar panels? How many miles less driving? The numbers you get when you actually add up what we would need are impossibly, gigantically, unrealistically, unobtainably large. To meet the Kyoto targets by only reducing driving, then ALL driving would have to stop. Not only that, but all motorized transport, including planes, trains and ships. And that includes trucks delivering food from farms, buses taking people to work, and of course, jets taking Al Gore to speaking engagements. Or if you want to save part with reduced driving and part with reduced electrical use, you would have to end all passenger car driving and cut all electrical use in half. And that also includes forbidding the developing countries from starting up generating electricity. No new electrical service to poor hospitals in Africa. They will just have to do without vaccines that need refrigeration. And even if we did all that, all it would do is delay the warming by 5 years. People just have no idea how large the task would be and how damaging it would be to people’s lives. Compared to that, a 2 foot sea level rise in 100 years combined with an average air temperature increase of 5 degrees is just no problem at all.
