i'm not really the best daughter to have around. i party... hard... daily. i'm also secretly dating someone they don't like. i turn 18 in 2 months.. && to me the best idea seems to be to move out. i mean.. my parents aren't letting me go to football/basketball games. they say that they don't know i'll really go. when in actuality i would. i have a job... i'm going to try to get a better one.. i'm also trying to get someone to move in with mee... && to get a place near my high school so i can just walk there && save gas. i'll take my cell phone off of my families bill && pay for that && take my mom's name off my bank account. but what things do i need to look for when i'm buying an apartment? is this even a good idea? cuz i know i can keep up with my school work. i just know i can't follow my parents rules.

  1. Do you have any idea how expensive it's going to be?  Food, utilities, insurance etc. will cost you an extra few hundred dollars a month on top of paying rent.  If you can't follow rules, how can you be mature enough to take care of the responsibility of an apartment.  Society has rules too you know and breaking those can land you in jail.

  2. Start reading in the newspaper at the classifieds and get an idea of how much apartments are. call around before looking. Ask about security deposits. some places may not require one. Have you considered renting a room or sharing an apartment with someone who already has a room to rent.

    Save your money.

You will need to call the electric company to start up service. You may have to call the water company to see if you will need to set up service. The same with the gas company. Find out which utilities the apartment complex will pay for.

Then you will need to be a little resourceful and find some furniture, kitchen utensils, vaccuum, broom, mop, and dont forget the cost of food. If you can afford to handle these issues then maybe you are ready to have your own place. Remember, your friends are going to come hang with you all the time because you will provide them with a sanctuary and a place to party. They will run up your electricity bill and eat your food. charge them if they come over by having them bring food, drinks, and such. Good luck young lady!

  3. you need to find out what the cheapest appartment costs then what the bills are gunna cost and make sure u will be able to get enough money to pay them and then have enough left over to live off. i think you will probs need to be earning a good £400 dollars a week at least. coz here in the uk to be able to live without sturggling to pay bills u need to be earning at least £200 a week. you need to work out the cost of health insurance if u decide u want that,  removal vans cost alot of money here in the uk-might be diffrent where u r- so find out what they cost. then theres furniture etc and as for your phone you need to make sure you know how much money you need to run it and then theres school fees-im guessing u will probs have to pay them. just make sure you think everything through carefully and check all your prices of things before you make this huge decision.

and also you say u like to party alot-well do u have enuf repsonsibilty to take on such a big thing.

  4. First get an idea how much apartments rent for.  A $700 apartment usually demands a security of twice that, so that means you'll need at least $1400 when you sign a lease.

You will also need deposits for all your utilities.. This is one way to establish credit.  Also, get your own bank accounts in your name only.

Moving out is not cheap.  You will definitely need a roommate to help defray costs.  But it's a great life experience to see how expensive things really are.  Being on your own teaches you responsibilities and perhaps more respect for your parents.

    Good luck!

  5. It sounds to me like you are not ready for the responsibilities that come with living on your own. Right now you should just stay at home with your parents and save your money. Life gets very tough once you move out of your parents house. From that point on you always must have a job, make sure bills are paid on time (rent, water, electric, food, gas, health insurance, renters insurance, internet, cable, cell phone, car insurance, and partying hard costs a lot also).  Keep in mind that you also have to go to school during the day. You won't make enough money per month with a part-time job to cover everything.

If you can't follow your parents rules, how are you going to follow other rules in life?  Later in life, you will find that your parents are the most important people in your life and they were really only trying to prepare you for life out in this savage world.  Trust me, it's not as wonderful as it sounds to live out on your own.
