  1. there is no negative outcome to comply with kyoto. president bush is using his style of politics to keep america in the dark ages, and lagging behind other countries. we can see a variety of issues nowadays that america is no longer the leader on. including our once dominant manufacturing base. to comply with the kyoto protocol would advance technologies tremendously for protecting the environment and developing new energy efficient methods for development and emissions control. politicans like to say kyoto would cost america millions of jobs, but this is not necessarily true. kyoto would spur new clean industry and create actually millions of new jobs. it is hard to believe when people do not back up their opinions with facts about kyoto, the targets and what would be gained from it. i overall supported kyoto because the time to act on climate change and the environment is now, im hoping that other americans and politicians will soon see that.

  2. The Kyoto treaty, if passes would destroy the United States economic system. It was not designed to help the earth. It was designed to economically hurt all free capitalist nations and give all dictatorships an unfair advantage. China is excluded from the Kyoto treaty reforms. China is the second largest polluter in the world. This should explain the true motive of this treaty. These are some of the reasons Bill Clinton and Al Gore did not sign it.

  3. If they did they would be the first to do so. EU devised the plan and then effectively exempted themselves from it. They are allowed to emit over 50% more than other signatories and still fail to comply in real terms. Their transport usage has increased by 30% since then. Only the relative poverty of the European people keeps their emissions down. That would work anywhere!! First destroy your economy.

  4. If USA comply's with kyoto protocol, blue planet may survive climate overheating.  If not comply oxygen depletion is eventual world wide pandemic  (oxygen cannister's necessary)... Carbon problem overshadow's real problem of breathable air if kyoto protocal compliance USA reject's.  Then 20 year's from now human population cut in half by catastrophe's and 70 year's from now, oxygen necessary for human survival, pro football player's get their oxygen free, so they will probably survive, but poor people (most of the planet will go) Better to stop pollution now.

  5. the US would suffer economically and it would also hinder its stand on "freedom," that is, people can't drive their SUVs around all day with only one person in it. the US wouldn't hurt so bad from it if they had a realistic plan in mind.

look at japan who is having all their vending machines run on eco-friendly equipment, thus reducing their emissions in great amounts.

it is expensive to change one's ways and the US doesn't want to spend the money or effort to do it. instead the government tells their people that global warming is bogus and that the country is already doing much better than the kyoto protocol requirements.

  6. the USA would suffer a negateable loss of revenue, that's about it. its worry is that it would loose its sole super power status.

  7. If USA they accept the protocol immediately, all his economy and world economy would suffer a grave economic crisis.

  8. Clinton did sign the treaty, it was never ratified by the Congress, though they could take up a vote on it at any time--no need for Bush to sign it.

Here is the reality though, to actually COMPLY with the treaty, we would either have to:

    A)  Build more nuclear power plants quickly (unrealistic).

    B)  Build far more wind and solar power plants quickly (unrealistic and expensive).

    C)  Change human behavior in the country.

So how exactly do we change the amount of electricity Americans use?  Well you have to raise the COST... and very significantly.  Thus you have to make electricity expensive, which will drive business that requires large amounts of energy to other countries.

And how do we make the average American drive less?  Again you raise the price of gas, probably to around 5 or 6 dollars per gallon.

Basically, we raise the cost of everything here, giving China and India even more of an advantage, eliminating our advantage over Europe (which is why our economic growth is higher than theirs) and China just builds more coal plants to counteract any reduction occurring in the rest of the world.  Yes, let's all be poor so China and India can grow.  It's fair though, they've been poor for so long.

  9. Not sure you're what asking, but:

Nobody is complying with Kyoto.  And it wouldn't make a difference even if everybody did comply.
