This technology has been around for centuries and it's called MAN !

no new technology is needed. in the 60s the U.S. & western Europe had air & water pollution problems similar to what China & India are experiencing now.

by adopting strict (& expensive) pollution standards the problem was greatly reduced or eliminated in only 25 years.

we just need to find a way to persuade the rest of the world to adopt the same technology & standards that we did 40 years ago.

this would have the added benefit of putting manufacturing & production facilities on equal financial footing no matter where they were located, instead of encouraging them to move to countrys with no pollution standards.

the sources of air pollution are so many and so vastly different as well as dispersed that there would be no UNIQUE choice of technology that will fit every case.

essentially, pollution, air pollution especially, should be checked at the source rather than after it has got into the air. we of course know that in developed countries, motor cars and other engines cause most of the pollution. an immediate solution may be electric cars, powered from public outlets.

in developing countries, industries cause the greatest pollution. laws exist against it, but they are not properly enforced. so i think education, public resistance, and political awareness are important.
