What nice excursions are there from the Calella de Mar region of Costa Maresme?

would like to do some nice excursions, see the countryside a bit, visit some interesting villages or to the city for a day.

You're very close to Girona.  Beautiful city with an exquisite medieval center.  You're also not terribly far from Cadaqués, a beautiful seaside town that was once a grand center for the impressionists.  Figueres, Dalí's home and museum there.  Also, you aren´t very far from the wine country or Cataluña, and where cava (Spanish Champagne) is made, so going to one of the wineries might be fun.   You're actually not that far from the French border, so, if you want to cross the border just to have coffee to say you´ve done that, that´s ... ok, kind of an American thing, if you´re not yankee, probably not such a big deal...

If you´re into Barcelona, you're only about a halfhour away.  And MontSerrat, as well.
