im doing a report on unnecessary product brands that use animal testing. i think thats real horrible putting foundation on a rabbit and waiting to see if it shows a reaction. thats inhumane. i mean im controversial on animal testing on cancer research but without doing that many people would not have love ones... MAKE UP testing HOWEVER is a HORRIBLE way to use an animal!!! please tell me all the shampoos and make up brands that do animal testing because on google it gives me brands that use fur...

  1. Ok, but here is something to think about...all those companies that proudly emblazen "We don't test on animals" on their bottles, yeah, they STILL use the information on their ingredients from people who DID test on animals.

They are distancing themselves from the distasteful stuff, but they are benefitting from animal testing just the same. So don't be fooled into thinking they are all warm and fuzzy...they just got into the game late enough to benefit from someone else's dirty work.

It's nice that they don't have to harm any more critter's to test their new combination of ingredients that someone already tested on an animal.

Here is my solution. I don't use makeup. I don't encourage them to have to test more chemicals on more animals, by not using products that are unecessary to a normal healthy life.

Yes, I use soap and shampoo. But honestly, that's about it.

that is a REAL solution...not just buying from a company that uses other people's research, but just NOT buying a ton of chemical c**p that we don't really need.

  2. They don't just put foundation on rabits- they inject the ingredient in animals. It's a LOT more inhumane than you may think.

If you google "make-up that tests on animals" there should be a list. On the top of my head, CoverGirl, Pantene, Max Factor and Bounty paper towels all test inhumanely.

  3. Check out www.caringconsumer.com.  They keep an UPDATED list of companies that test and don't test the products you are interested in learning about.  Kudos to you for researching this topic.  Most Americans don't realize that millions of animals from rats, mice, birds, rabbits, and dogs and cats have died for these testing purposes.

  4. i completely agree, & lots of brands do animal testing. my suggestion would be to run around a walmart or other store. looking at the makeup, etc. * if they do not test on animals it will say they dont.

  5. I think testing cosmetics on animals before testing them on humans is great. Of course, I value human life above animal life, which may be the reason we disagree.

  6. I would be a lot less worried about animal testing than a company putting chemicals that may harm me in their product. There are many chemicals commonly used in beauty products that have been linked to cancer, immune disorders and organ failure.

Unfortuanatly we know many of the risks because they have been tested on animals. Check out the database I list to see if your brand has any suspected or known risks, you can also look up specific ingredients, but beware, because the beauty industry doesn't require a list of all ingredients.
