I have to take it next year, and I was looking on bitesize when I saw a long list of prose fiction, which I know means novels. Do you only study one of them in detail, or all of them? Do you get a choice, if you only study one? Or is it just randomly picked? Answer would be much apprecaited.

  1. English Lit GCSE:

    Coursework: 1xprose 1xdrama (play) & 1xpoetry (collection of)

    Exam:  1xprose 1xdrama (play) & 1xpoetry (collection of)

1 prose, 1 poetry and 1 drama will be pre-1914; the other 3 texts will be post-1914

the poetry will either be a collection of various poems by one poet, or a collection of poems by mixed poets

so you study 2 books, 2 plays and 2 poetry sets over the 2 years of the course - usually the c/w texts in Y10 and the exam texts in Y11

  2. No, you only do one and your teacher usually picks it

    good luck x*x
