Are you sure that the title, is not, "the stone keeper" ?

If it is, then the reference is to the attendant, of the "stone of scone" a post that is ceremonial,. and relates to the stone upon which the Kings of Scotland, were crowned, while seated upon....

It would help, if you gave a little more info, like quoting from the text, as a literal source....
