  1. I have had GSXRs in past both for street use as well as a race bike. I have always had excellent results using K&N Oil Filters. The are a performance filter and have some bennefits over stock.

    1. Oil Block Bypass-Should your filter clog, K&N filters have an automatic safety valve that seals off the filter allowing oil to still flow through the motor. It may not be filtering it, but the engine will continue to be lubricated.

    2. 17mm Hex nut removal system-Instead of having to buy various wrenches for various types of filters, all you need is a 17mm wrench or ratchet to install/remove the filter. With limited space and hot head pipes to work around, I found a socket w/extension made this a lot easier.

    3. Pre-drilled for safety wire-The filter is ready to race. Tracks require you to safety wire vital parts to the bike as to avoid oil spills on the track in case of an accident. This eliminates the need to drill holes which could possibly damage other filter.

    4. Can be used twice-self explanitory

The stock Suzuki filter is fine, don't get me wrong, but the are only a buck or two cheaper than a K&N filter and do not have these bennefits.

The part number for your bike is KN-138. It fits all GSXRs of that year up to 2008.

And to tell you the truth, I actually am an employee of American Suzuki in the US Corporate office and I still go to my local shop to purchase the K&N. :)

  2. Bad advice warning - I don't think it was intentional...use only Suzuki Oil Filter...... Indonesian made oil filters made under proper proprietary specifications and demands are good oil filters - more "Chinese" looking oil filters are actually - Indonesian made and often confused.

    This is a proprietary Suzuki

    thread, and no high performance

    filters are made for 20mmx1mm

    threads.

I don't have access to the Suzuki manual either, but I do have an extensive cross-reference table that shows "high performance" recommended oil filter applications and your bike model shows that no high performance filter is made and no other filter but the Suzuki version is being recommended

    try this link - http://www.scribd.com/doc/273701/GSXR600...

  3. A Suzuki dealer will know - just tell the parts guy what bike you have.

Go to - your bike - Oil Cooler

  4. I would use a Wix filter.  If you are going to upgrade to synthetic oil as you asked in your previous question, you should upgrade the filter also.

The Wix part number for the oil filter that fits your bike is 51359.  This can be special ordered through any automotive parts store that sells Wix filters.   Where I live Bumper to Bumper auto parts and NAPA sells them.  Use your local yellow pages to find a store near you.

These cost more than a Fram filter but less than the cheap made in China filters you will get from your local Suzuki dealership.
