ok, here's the deal...it's been twelve years, ten months (and a couple of days) since I've been on my native soil. I'm making my moves to come back home, but (I'll be honest) part of me scared cause I have no idea what to expect anymore! What's the biggest change? And what's still the same? I need details...I need to know...

  1. except for a rise in food prices, ah rise in crime, and politicians occasionally making meh blood pressure rise, and PLENTY traffic, Trinidad hasnt changed as drastically as some people think.

Ah mean, if you go in POS it will shock you with the amout of tall buildings along wrightson road and thing now, but its just like most other places you will visit.

There are lots of jobs out there...if you have a degree or a skill, you good to go.

Try and dont get sick, cause health care ent change....it ent get no better...and may have actually gotten worse.

I suggest that when you get here you visit St. Anns and let them register you and give you a clinic card.....so that when you cant take it any more and knock down the pedestrian who cruising across the road just as the lights turn green, they wont send you to jail.

just remember the basic rules...dont flash foreign currency, jewellery and lose the accent and you on like ah boil corn

  2. Fus ting ...welcome back home in advance

Change to shock yuh --- Food prices, crime, and yuh better forget public health care

Hope yuh coming back armed with nuff skill and ting to get ah good paying job if not stay whe yuh dey

Oh and yuh better take ah defensive drinving course ...yuh go need it, is ah mad house out on the road.

But the lime still sweet and de party does still start late

  3. well i dont live in trinidad anymore but i go home every two years. I have NEVER had a bad experience and i ALWAYS enjoy myself...i catch up with family, go some parties and visit tobago. To me Trinidad has changed for the better in many ways (little america), but of course there's always the issue of crime. All you have to do is be careful, just like if u were going on vacation to any other place. I dont know what the "secret" is to staying safe but all I kno is that i enjoy visiting Trinidad all the time, and it always saddens me to leave. I hope you have a great time in trinidad (bring back a two piece spicy special from KFC nah)

  4. Well one thing for sure - you see the "customer service" you used to where you are? Forget it and be prepared for long lines and people like they always on go slow.

Is a culture thing that we take we time down here.

The public service work for their money - they believe they don't get paid enough.........(know what I mean?)
