Question:

What on earth is in my eye?

Ever had an eyelash in your eye? Well, last night I had that real odd blink-a-mile-a-minute thing going so I figured it was a situation like that. I check out my eye in the mirror and I don’t see an eyelash. Every time I blinked I could feel it. I figured no big deal, maybe it's just far back there so I just assumed when I woke up today I'd be able to solve it if it still needed solving. Here we are, today, and it's still there. I've attempted washing out my eye with the little bottle wash, my mom went q-tip huntin' in there as disturbing as it was and still, every time I blink I get a constant reminder that something isn‘t quite right. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it didn't effect my driving due to crazed twitching. So, please, does anyone have any advice?

  1. Eye Sty

    What Is a Sty?

A sty is a pimple or abscess that forms in either the upper or lower eyelid. The medical term for sty is hordeolum (say HOR-dee-oh-lumm) and it is an infection caused by bacteria that normally live peacefully on the eyelid skin surface. Some of thee germs get trapped along with dead skin cells inside crypts along the eyelid margin. Sties are usually superficial and plainly visible. Occasionally they can reside deeper within the eyelid.

An external sty starts as a pimple next to an eyelash. It turns into a red, painful swelling that usually lasts several days before it bursts and then heals. Most external sties are short-lived and self-limiting.

An internal sty (on the underside of the lid) also causes a red, painful swelling, but its location prevents the familiar whitehead from appearing on the eyelid. The internal sty may disappear completely once the infection is past, or it may leave a small fluid-filled cyst or nodule that can persist and may have to be opened and drained.

  2. You probably have something in your eye, it's more than likely clear that's why you can't see it.  You should probably go to a doctor and get them to check it out.  They have special glasses they use to see things in your eye.  My husband had a piece of tiny metal in his eye, and he couldn't get it out.  He could feel it, but he couldn't see it.  The doctor found it right away with the special glasses, and he put a special eye drop in the eye, and took it out.  Be careful with your eye, you don't want it to get infected, if there is something in your eye, a piece of metal could rust inside your eye and cause real problems, if untreated.  Good luck o.k.
