the drive on I-85 north and southbound around the newnan area is a mess of construction. now both sides of the freeway have those concrete barriers on them for two lanes. all of the water gets trapped and people are hydroplaning all over the place. it's a freaking mess!!! and so dangerous!!! does anyone know when this will be finished?

  1. Good luck. I-35 between Austin and San Antonio, here in Texas, has only recently become barrier free. It was under construction, one stretch after another, for at least five years. Now that the widening is complete it is rather nice though. And I-35 between Austin and Dallas is pretty much the same way.

  2. It is scheduled to be completed December 31st, 2008.

  3. When encountering water collected in the traffic lanes of a roadway, SLOW DOWN.  If entering the area filled with water is causing you to hydro-plane, then you are traveling too fast for conditions.

If you are involved in an accident, and hydo-planing is proven the cause, then you would be in the wrong and subject to being cited.  Fair or not, it's the law.  And you have the responsibility of operating your vehicle safely regardless of the outside weather and road conditions.

  4. Here in Utah on I-15, it took about six years of that to widen it. Now that it's over, they're talking about widening it again. We need some population control in this country.
