What on earth was the horrible brown thing on my floor!?

Question

Saturday morning I went into my kitchen and spotted 3 brown things on my kitchen floor (looked like mouse/rat droppings) about 15mm in length. On closer inspection I noticed it had ridges going round it horizontally. I pressed one and yellow goo flew out! It was disgusting... what ton earth was it!? They weren't there on the Friday night.

Note:- I live near a wooded area, 1st floor flat, kitchen window open alot. Had brought shopping in on Friday night from Asda so it could have come from that?

Pheasant Poo though it's more likely to be a big slug.

from your description I'm guessing a slug or worm or caterpillar.

It sound like you squished a butterfly or a moth cocoon.  They develop a a protective brown coating as you have described and emerge later as moths or butterflies.

Could have been a rat tailed maggot .
