  1. Mam, there are alot of great young computer-like games out there you can get for your 4-yr. old, such as: Leap Frog w/ discs that go into this computer like game,Mattel makes alot of good programs she can play on your computer such as: numbers, alphabet, colors, and mam this is just an idea but I used to work at Taco Bell, and when my young customers came in with their moms & dads I used to give them little books just the right size for them and their names of some was:shapes, colors, numbers, under water adventures, the name of the book was Baby Genius, there are other things for learning that you can go online to get for your 4 yr.old, as follows:www.babygenius.com , my books  help parents to stimulate the children's curiosity and language developement- both vital for successful early learning. This was just a thought.

  2. for top online games visit  http://sr-bhavana.blogspot.com/

  3. That's the age my son started!  He mostly was on www.noggin.com.  You'll be surprized how fast they pick up on it.  Then as he slowly got used to the computer & got older, I would let him on pbskids, disney, cartoonnetwork, etc.

  4. I agree that in small doses, even 2 year olds can become successful at the computer and in this day in age...it's good to introduce computer skills.  But do remember that computer time is included in the overall "screen time".

I don't use online games much because of dial-up...I did hear positive things about the ones already mentioned...but maybe I can suggest that you head to the local library and check out a few of their cd-roms for preschoolers.  JumpStart is great, Reader Rabbit is pretty good.  I do NOT care for any of the Winnie the Poohs that I've used.    One thing I like about educational cd's is that many are progressive...that after a child "masters" a certain skill it automatically moves on to the next skill or vice versa.  JumpStart has Baby, toddler, preschool, Kindergarten, and up and I love them all.  They also have "progress" reports so that you as the parent can see how the child's doing if you aren't right there with them.  The nice thing about going to the library is that you can try some of them before you purchase. The kids that I care for enjoy the variety of games I can provide because of the library.  Good luck!

  5. There are many but not too many that are simple and direct at a childs level. Too much flashy stuff is a distraction against learning. Here are some of my favorites.

Language Arts - If you scroll to the bottom where it says Download Center you can find some simple tracing worksheets for your child to do once you print them for him/her.

    Alphabet skills

  6. they shouldn't be on the computer at that age.

but anyway there are dora the explorer games for young children that teaches them how to count etc.

good luck sorry I couldn't be more help.

  7. www.starfall.com is an excellent site to help learning. Our kids visit it often at both home and school

4 years is not too young at all, as long they have limits. My two year old knows his way around already.

    Other good sites: nickjr.com, playhousedisney.com, noggin.com
