grrrr... these responses not well informed.

It was initially the case when vista came out that dx10 was slower than dx9. Since sp1 and dx 10.1 this difference largely eliminated. I wont go into the details but if you google dx9 vs dx10 gaming and limit to results that are less than 3 months old you will see a number of articles that run a number of games on the same hardware with each respective os and show no significant difference in frame rates.

its not hard to find this information if people take the time to LOOK FOR IT AND READ IT instead of GUESSING about the correct answer.

As long as you have a reasonably powerful machine, vista is the better os, IF, you have a dx10 compatable video card. If your card is dx9 then obviously there's nothing to offset the rest of the disadvantages that come with the os (drm, user management, etc), and so xp would be a better choice.
