What organ do the carotid arteries supply? what would happen if I were to cut off the blood supply to the carotid arteries?

    Yeah, exactly as Dr. de Witt proffered, the carotid aa. bifurcate into the internal and external.  The internals supply the brain whilst the externals supply the face, parts of the thyroid, neck, tongue, etc.  If you cut off the blood to the carotids, you'd be in trouble unless you have adequate posterior circulation to compensate, but it'd be a bad idea to try.


  2. They go to your head. The internal carotids head for the brain, except in high school students, who seem not to have one.

  4. It supplies blood to the head & neck.  Cut it off for too long & you die or suffer brain damage.
