  2. Hi Scrapper,

A better form of the question is, "What organisms might directly benefit from an algae bloom" or "What organisms directly rely on algae for energy".

I do not know of any organisms that "rely" on the algae "bloom" for energy; however, there are a great number of organisms that rely directly on algae as their source of energy and there are still greater numbers of organisms that rely indirectly on algae as their source of energy by preying upon the organisms that consume algae (examples a hawk that eats a marine iguana or an octopus that eats a crab that consumes algae).

Some of  the organisms that rely directly on algae are: a variety of crab species, the marine iguanas, some species of fish, sea urchins, sea horses, some species of marine snails; and some populations of humans (in areas of Japan, for example).

    I hope this helps.
