I want something other than just a place where I can donate money, I want to actually contribute my own time and/or experience to assist troops, possibly by offering them financial advice using my finance background, but not restricted to that. Thanks!!

  1. The USO does a great job supporting the troops, and has both giving and volunteer opportunities.

  2. It's great that you want to help the troops, but don't forget those who have already served. You could get involved helping veterans. For example: the VA Medical Centers have volunteer programs; you can go visit veterans in nursing homes; you can volunteer to drive disabled veterans to doctor appointments, or to the store; you can contact any local Veteran's group (VFW, DAV,etc.) to offer your assistance; just to name a few ways. The Veteran's groups should also be able to give you lots of other ways you can help, and there are links for volunteers at both www.DAV.org and www.VFW.org. Hope this helps you achieve your goal, and thank you for your patriotism.

  3. contact your local VFW, Veterans Hospital, Call your local military base
