Dyfed is one variant of Daffyd, which is the Welsh name for David, who is the patron saint of Wales.  Jones is a name common all over Britain, but it's especially common in Wales, where it's roughly the same as "Johnson (John's son)".  (Tan's probably his favorite lager.)

(The usual nickname for David/Daffyd etc. is Taffy, though this is also applied to Welsh people in general like Irish people were sometimes called Paddy or Germans were sometimes called 'Schmitty" regardless of their last name.)

I couldn't find anything for the surname Dyfed, but there was quite a lot written about the name Tan and  a fair bit about the name Jones.
