When I go back to school in year 9 I will be picking my GCSE's, I want to be a nursery nurse in a school or a clinic but preferably a school, I am going to pick Health and Social but I don't know what other subject to do, I was thinking of taking History as I find it interesting but is there a different subject that is more necessary to take?

  1. It really depends on your tastes and interests.

If you are an innovative and creative person Product Design, French, IT, Media, PE and any Arts subjects will be your choice.

If you are more academical- History, Geography or Business Studies will be good.

Taking an additional language helps you with you future careers as employees are paying more for people who know an additional language. It help you to get into good universities too.

I took IT, French, Business Studies and Product Design.

    Hope this helps.

  2. If you are planning on going to study at college/sixth form after then GCSE's are just to get you in there.  Therefore study what you find interesting

  3. Right now, its more important you choose subjects you like as the grades you get at the end are much more important than anything else (at this level).

Btw, I did History and I found it totally fascinating. I got a B at the end and I've continued it onto A-Level, I can't get enough of it. Only a year left though and I'll be off to uni! :(

  4. It will be your qualifications after that will determine your career. For example:

To be a class room assistant its your NVQ that permits you to work

Health and Social would be very beneficial. The rest just pick the ones you enjoy cause you will do better in them

  5. Take witch ever one you enjoy and think you'll be good at :) :) :)  I don't think that there is one you need to do. Check a website :)

    Answer mine please :)

  6. Do history ;)

employers love when people take english-related subjects, and it's good that you have an interest in it. Right now it doesn't matter so much about them being realted to your job of choice, as it's only GCSE.

History also lets you choose more different subjects if you wish when going to college.

  7. ICT

    Home economics

    Sociology

would all be good ones to take.

  8. history is good, thats what im picking but apparently it is quite hard.

and if you live in Ireland or northern Ireland you should do Irish because its a very easy GCSE

  9. go on this website

    www.mychoiselondon.co.uk

it tells you what you should have in order to get to your career i think it's under pathways!

If not then i would suggest business studies it's quite interesting and comes in handy everywhere!

    Good Luck

  10. You don't need to worry as far as your career is concerned, though if your school offers child development you could do that? Mine did though not all offer it. As long as you get into college your NVQ will be enough for your career.

I took history, it was pretty good though I did find it mind-numbingly boring. It was modern world then (this is about 6 years ago), which is interesting, but it doesn't really branch out at all in the whole two years. Just the same thing over and over again. It's not particularly hard though! History looks good, IT always looks good too.

Just do whatever you think you'll enjoy and be good at.

    Good Luck

  11. hey

do what ever subjects you think will help in the future Eg if you want to do a certain course in college you might be required to have a GCSE in that subject before so think ahead

also do subjects that you know you will enjoy.I have just finished my GCSE's and i picked a subject that i was no good at but only chose it because i had no other subjects i wanted to do and hated for 2 years !!!!!!!!!!!!
