My GCSE results are likely to be s***, i'm expecting 4As, 5Bs and 1C. So as a back up alternative, what jobs could I get with Emirates airline for example; other than being a pilot

  1. The primary jobs other than aircrew (pilot, attendants, flight deck crew) would be mechanics for the structural, engines, and electronics. Servicing: fueling, baggage handling, cleaning, meal service.  The people that direct them to spot at the terminal. Then there would be the people in the terminal to check bags, check tickets, skycaps, the people with the cart that whisk people around on their carts.  I'm sure that ther are more jobs as well.  The mechanic positions require liscenses.

  4. Any of the "skilled" jobs previously mentioned require more training, exams and certification (by the FAA in the U.S.): A&P Mechanic (Airframe and Powerplant); avionics repair; air-traffic controller; P-O-L (petroleum-oil-lubricant handling and delivery;etc etc etc. More time in school/training, more exams to pass, more money.

College of Alameda has an FAA-certified A&P school at Oakland (California) Airport: 2 years full-time (4:30pm to 10:30pm, Monday thru Friday) costs about $3,500, including books and tools...compare that to $30,000 or more for one of those private 'vocational/technical' training schools that also advertise for motorcycle repair, dental hygienist, criminology, etc. (one of which is scheduled to close soon near the CofA).

There are also schools like Embry-Riddle that have Aircraft-business Management courses on-line.
