What other countries think about girls with American accents?

I’m California girl who is thinking of going to college in New Zealand or Australia. I’ve hear that other countries hate U.S. accents, it this true?

There are lots of different american accents, I don't know which belongs to which region, but some I really like, whereas others I find annoying.  Most western countries would be quite used to them through television, I would imagine for most people personality would count for more than an accent.
