Question:

What other desserts can I make for my housewarming party?

I'm having a housewarming party this Saturday. I'm making almost all the food, however, my Mom and cousin are each bringing a dessert. So far 25 people have confirmed they're coming, and another 25 are maybe coming. Desserts we are having for sure are:

-Chocolate Truffles

-No-bake Cherry Cheesecake (brought by my cousin)

-Fruit Pizza (brought by my Mom)

I am looking for anything else I can make for the dessert table that is easy, but also yummy! I was thinking of making chocolate macaroons. I definately don't want to make fudge, cupcakes, or a cake. Any other dessert suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

  1. Dump Cake ... I know you said no cake, but this isnt a normal type cake...

    Ingre.

    1 can chopped pineapple

1 can pie filling (flavor of your choice)

    1 box yellow cake mix

    1 stick butter

pour pie filling into cake pan, then pour can of pineapple with juices on top of filling.

sprinkle your cake mix all over that then cut butter into little sqaure pieces and place all over the cake mix.

Cook for an hour at 350 degrees.

It tastes good warm, cold and room temp.  With and without ice cream.

Peanut Butter cookies are another great thing.

  2. Lemon bars!

Look up recipes, and follow the easiest one!

  3. How about these decadent Chocolate Covered Cheesecake Pops:

Purchase one of those pre-made pre-sliced cheesecakes. Insert wooden Popsicle sticks into wide end. Place on cookie sheet and freeze thoroughly. Melt dipping chocolate (whatever flavor you like). Carefully dip the entire frozen wedge into chocolate and let solidify. Freeze and amaze your friends and family with these frozen chocolate covered cheesecake pops!

  4. I WOULD SAYY COOKIES THAT SOUND EXPENSIVE, BUT THEIR EASY TO MAKE =)

HOPE IT HELPS. P.S. GO ON EPICURIOUS.COM GREAT EXPENSIVE-SOUNDING RECIPES THAT ARE EASY! =)

  5. Things that are single serving I have found to work best.  You could make chocolate covered strawberries, merangues, pretty cookies or brownies or for something a little more special have a fondue.  You can have fresh fruit, brownies, cookies, pound cake or marshmallows to dip into the chocolate.

For something that is wonderful but a little rich is an old family recipe I have that is always a big hit....

    Butter Almond Crunch

    1C Butter

    1C Sugar

    4 oz. Chocolate chips

    ½ c Almonds, chopped fine

Melt butter, add sugar and heat over medium low heat. Using candy thermometer, cook until hard crack stage(310 degrees) stirring almost continually. Immediately turn onto greased cookie sheet. Cool. Melt chocolate chips over boiling water, being sure not to heat too much. Chocolate burns easily. When you stir and some of the bits start to melt, take off stove and keep stirring until the rest of the bits melt. If needed, you can heat it just a little more. Spread on candy. Immediately sprinkle chopped almonds on top. When chocolate is cool and firm, use the point of a knife to break into irregular pieces.

I have also made these and they are a pretty presentation.  You can make mouse from a box or homemade.

Take melted chocolate and line mini cupcake liners on bottom and sides .  Put in fridge to make solid.  Make sure you put the chocolate on thick or it will crumble or crack when you take the liner off.  if you have to harden them and put a second layer and harden again.  Once hardened take liner off chocolate shell.  Then make chocolate mouse and set up in fridge.  Once set put chocolate mouse in a piping bag and fill each chocolate cup with a swirl of mouse.  Decorate with chocolate shavings or powdered sugar.

  6. Are children coming too? If they are, try this ( some are snacks) :

    - fruit salad

    - fruits

    - ice cream treats

    - cracker sandwich snacks

    - burritos

    - tacos

    - pancakes

    - waffles

    - cookies

If u dont have time to make and get the ingredients, i suggest try to get some cakes from a bakery. My fren bought a chocolate cake from a bakery for her Christmas party and it taste awesome.

  7. I think you have enough chocolate and fruit offerings.  You need something nutty, like Pecan Tassies or Mexican Wedding Cookies (aka Sand Tarts, aka Pecan Delights, aka Cocoons)

  8. How about a banana split pie e-mail me to get the recipe

  9. Chocolate eclairs

Heres an instructional video on how to make them.

  10. TRIFLE!!!!! you can make many different varieties of it. It is very simple to throw together and since it is layered and you put it in a glass bowl, everyone is usually wowed by how pretty it looks. the layers i usually use are: cake at the bottom (homemade or store-bought angel food)  Jello vanilla pudding, Nilla wafers/ lady fingers (crushed or not), french-vanilla Cool Whip, and sliced strawberries---begin again in the same order. the ingredients sound basic, but the combination of all are TO DIE FOR!!! the key is to layer it very neatly since it shows through the bowl. you can do a search for even more layering ideas on www.foodnetwork.com
