I am a diehard Junior fan and I am so ecstatic he won. I am monitoring other chat rooms and they are whining/complaining that he didn't deserve the win because of the last yellow, passing the pace car, and other such things. I know that this win/race is not the first time that a racer has won by "good luck" or circumstances. Let's see if we can name a few others.

  1. Somebody last year won under caution and didn't cross the finish line.  I cant for the life of me remember his name.  I just remember the huge controversy that followed. Somebody please refresh my mind.

    Yes Greg Biffle thank you!

  2. Rebecca, it was Greg Biffle. Huge uproar about that one.

  3. Kasey Kahne - 2008 Coca Cola 600

    Clint Bowyer - 2008 Crown Royal 400

    Jeff Burton - 2008 Food City 500

Jeff Gordon - 2007 Bank of America 500

Tony Stewart - 2007 Sirius at the Glen

    Casey Mears - 2007 Coca Cola 600

    Matt Kenseth - 2007 Auto Club 500

    Tony Stewart - 2006 Banquet 400

Casey Mears - 2006 Chicagoland Busch race (forgot the name)

    Justin Labonte - 2004 Tropicana Twister 300

    etc, etc, etc ;)

  4. Rebecca R....that was Greg Biffle at Kansas......big controversy.

Jimmie got a fuel mileage win this year at Phoenix, Casey Mears last year at the Coca Cola 600. Tony Stewart in Kansas in 2006. The list goes on and on.

What about Jeff Gordon's race last year when he came out of the pits just as there was a caution, and then the race was over do to rain.

A win is a win. Being in the right place at the right time is racing strategy. Strategy also wins races.

  5. I wanna say it was like around '98 or 99, Jeff Burton seemed to win all the races that were getting rained out.

Last Year Casey Mears got his first win on fuel Mileage.

Last Year, a lot of the HMS wins were based off of being at the right place at the right time.

Jr's win in Chicago was won by fuel mileage.

Brian Vickers only win was him taking Jr and his teammate JJ out of the race.

The list could really just go on and on.  On the two sides of the coin, you're going to have folks that are really happy for him (fans and non-fans), then you are going to have another portion of folks that just wanna complain and come with c**p.

  6. kasey kahne several times one time at michigan and once at atlanta... jeff gordon at pocono and they will always complain about junior because he is the best or one of the best

  7. don't forget jimmie johnson at phoenix earlier this year and danica in japan.

    ;-)

  8. Richard Petty in the DAytona way back when. Cale Yarbrough got in a wreck with that one guy at the very end and they got into a fight while Richard Petty won. He would have finished if they wouldn't of crashed.

  9. Surely you remember Gordon's talladega win where all the refined and respectable jr fans decided to throw trash on the track? Classy move on the jr. fans.

  10. I think almost every driver out there - Gordon, Kahne, Kenseth, Petty, Stewart, etc. - has won because of the circumstances rather than racing. You cant change that though. That's part of NASCAR and will always be, for the good or the bad.

  11. there is racing luck involved in almost every win. very rarely does a car just go out and dominate a race and win it. more often than not, the dominant car in the race doesn't win, which means whoever does win needs a little luck to go his way.
